Calyon, Mandated Lead Arranger in two major project financings for Qatar Petroleum

Calyon acted as Mandated Lead Arranger in a 16.5-year term loan of USD 2.25 billion and a 16.5-year letter of credit facility of USD 150 million for Qatar Petroleum.
The purpose of the facilities is to finance the construction of a greenfield aluminium smelter and associated power plant, owned 50% by Qatar Petroleum and 50% by Hydro Aluminium.
This transaction confirms Calyon's commitment to the growing aluminium industry in the Middle East.

Calyon also acted as Mandated Lead Arranger, Documentation Agent, Facility Agent and Intercreditor Agent in a 16-year term loan of USD 2.8 billion and a 16-year letter of credit facility of USD 225 million for Qatar Petroleum.
These facilites finance the construction of a LNG (Liquid Natural Gas) liquefaction train in the State of Qatar.
Calyon has been involved in a senior position in the six LNG financings raised for the last 10 years in Qatar, which is now the largest LNG producer in the world.
