Calyon, exclusive Financial Advisor to Italcementi/Ciments Français in its takeover bid for the Egyptian company ASEC Cement

Calyon acted as the exclusive Financial Advisor to Italcementi/Ciments Français in the context of its EUR 650 million takeover bid for the Egyptian company ASEC Cement.

Several Calyon locations cooperated in the effort to win this transaction: its success involved our operation in Egypt, our M&A execution unit in Paris and our coverage of Italcementi in Italy.

Thanks to this major acquisition, Italcementi/Ciments Français Group has strengthened its leadership position in Egypt, with a market domestic share of 30% in grey cement and more than 50% in white cement. This transaction has also consolidated our client's leading position in Mediterranean countries.

ASEC Cement is the 5th largest cement producer in Egypt and the second largest exporter of cement. The company is listed on the Cairo stock exchange.
