Calyon sponsors and exhibits young photographers' snapshots in Taipei
About a dozen young photographers, based in Taipei, were given the opportunity of exhibiting their works from Friday April 18 to Saturday May 10, 2008 in Calyon's Taipei office. This exhibition is sponsored by Renlai magazine, a Ricci Institute publication, with Calyon's support.
'There are two main objectives for Calyon', said Philippe Pellegrin, SCO Calyon Taïwan. 'The first objective is to organize an internal event with a ludic content, stressing the importance of creativity in the banking industry'.
'The second objective is to start a social action', continued Philippe Pellegrin 'giving young photographers the opportunity of displaying their works. And the prize gives them a boost in their artistic career.'
Calyon financed the preview and made its offices available for the exhibition. 'This is an important Corporate Social Responsibility act for Calyon' added Philippe Pellegrin.
Calyon's employees attended the private viewing on April 18, 2008, with around 50 photographs shot by these young photographers (amongst them, some Taiwanese, French, Japanese and Chinese) on display on the theme 'rhythm & image', emphasizing the match between sight and sound. During the evening, Calyon's employees watched and analysed the photographers' work and chose the picture they liked best. The winner, Angelica Oung, received EUR 450 worth of photographic equipment.
