Career paths to build your confidence and skills

Calyon cares about its employees' careers. Through our career management tools, training programs and mobility policy, we provide regular opportunities for you to develop your potential while boosting our performance.

Responsibility from day one

In your first year with us you will attend a number of special meetings to help you to get to know Calyon’s organization and business lines, as well as the Group as a whole, its strategy and its values. You’ll also experience one of our principles in action: cohesiveness.
  • On your first day, an HR assistant will welcome you and answer any questions you may have.
  • After three months, you will be invited to an HR breakfast.
  • After six months, you will complete an attitude survey and meet with an HR manager for an initial review.

This manager will remain your primary day-to-day HR interface from the time you arrive at Calyon.
During your first year, you may also – beginning in 2009 – participate in a “Welcome Seminar.” It is day-long event for employees in France, and two-and-a-half days for those outside France.

Seminars are a peak experience in your integration, strengthening your sense of company identity and belonging. They mark an important step in creating your Calyon network.

Laying the foundations of your career

At Calyon, training is designed to develop individual and group skills in order to meet the company’s strategic challenges. It also encourages team spirit and cross-divisional projects by facilitating interaction and networking.

Individually, we help you to feel at home in your new position. Early in the year, you discuss your needs with your manager. This is a first step in taking charge of your professional future.

At group level, we offer you training modules tailored to each business line, covering the technical and behavioral skills needed for your job. This is a tailor-made program, designed to fit your profile. It prepares you for the future of each business line and familiarizes you with the company’s strategy. It also covers the particular international, regulatory and technological environments of each of our rapidly changing activities.

In order to increase the international character of our modules, in 2008 we acquired an e-learning platform that will enable us to train a maximum number of employees across the world.

A group rich in opportunities

Calyon is active in 58 countries, on all continents. It offers exceptional international opportunities – 66% of our employees are based outside France. Mobility is key to developing your skills and improving your performance.

At Calyon, mobility is fed by a highly multicultural environment. You are in contact with people in other countries every day, wherever you work. People of more than 100 nationalities interact every day at Calyon.
For international moves, our employees and their families have the help of our human resources department. Mobility also means having opportunities to switch business lines or to discover other Group entities.

This year, more than 900 employees worldwide have already benefited from our mobility policy.

Working with you to help you grow

Identifying key skills and developing our employees’ sense of belonging are central concerns for Calyon. Throughout your career with us, we work with you to help you to grow and uncover your potential for developing within the framework of the company’s strategic plan.

To manage your career optimally, we schedule regular meetings – an annual evaluation with your manager, individual career management sessions with your HR contact, and more – for every employee, in every part of the world.

The annual evaluation takes place during the fourth quarter. It serves as an opportunity to focus on your contribution to the company’s performance. A number of criteria, such as technical and behavioral skills, are taken into consideration. These are the same worldwide, to take into account the international character of our activity and our corporate culture.

Early in the following year, individual objectives are set for you reflecting company strategy at the level of your function and business line–. The discussions will help determine your career path, especially with regard to mobility (from one business line to another, from one Group entity to another, or internationally).
