Calyon acted as joint bookrunner of RWE dual-tranche transaction

On 12th of November 2008 RWE Finance B.V. issued a two-part euro benchmark bond, consisting of a five-year and a ten-year tranche.

RWE had decided to launch the bond on the back of strong Q3 results which got released one day prior to launch. In the significantly oversubscribed transaction the company raised EUR 2 billion for general corporate purposes. It was the first transaction of RWE in the international bond markets since July 2004.

Besides Calyon, the other three bookrunners were Deutsche Bank, Barclays Capital and Unicredit (HVB).

RWE AG is a German electric power and natural gas public utility company established in 1898 and based in Essen. Through its various subsidiaries, the energy company contributes electricity and gas to its customers principally in Europe.
