The transactional commodity finance team is active in three areas viz Energy (oil and by products, coal and biofuels), soft commodities and metals.

A broad spectrum of solutions

The business line offers a wide range of financing solutions in the area of flows of commodities either under production or ready for export.

Such short term transactional finance is provided mainly in the form of letters of credit and guarantees, together with up and downstream cash facilities. Proposed financing also include crop/seasonal credits, tolling, refining and packaging before shipment.

A full range of products

  • documentary credits / guarantees and surety bonds 
  • treasury lines denominated in USD, euros and many other currencies. 
  • interest rate and foreign exchange hedge lines 
  • structured operations for less than one year, such as crop/seasonal credits, export prefinancing and tolling, 
  • promotion and financing of hedging products through Calyon Financial (futures) and Calyon Derivatives (synthetic products)
  • confirmation of bank risks, discounting of bank signatures 
  • repurchase of risks on established counterparties and geographical risks (drawee risk, purchase undertaking).
